Charles Tyrwhitt commissioned Push Design to expand their popular flagship store in Jermyn Street, London, the home of tailored shirts. The project aimed to double the retail footprint by expanding into the adjacent unit. This development allowed the store to accommodate the full merchandise range together with a new personal shopping area, an in-house tailor and further back of house facilities. In addition, a bespoke designed shoe shine service was added intelligently using the upcycled components from a vintage E-Type Jaguar.
The project required the formation of openings through a 200-year-old 600mm thick party wall at ground and basement levels with occupied residential and office units above. Push Design provided the design, programming, construction and project management including co-ordination with the multiple landlords, adjacent commercial and residential tenants as well as the negotiation of listed building, planning and building control approvals.
These complex works were carried out without interruption to trade within the existing store and Charles Tyrwhitt are very happy with the end result.
